i would give this a 10 star if i could. i had this spot on my "must try" list and i was finally visiting san diego and had the opportunity to. this is well beyond worth for its price. i have simply never had a sandwich that filled me with as much happiness and satisfaction as this. honestly i dream of these sandwiches and we plan on taking a 5 hour round trip just to get more of them with no other activity in mind. i crave this on the daily and cannot think of any place that beats it. i hope every subsequent trip gives me the same feeling as it did the first time

The sandwiches here are delicious ! My family has gone before but this was my first time. We ordered to go , the woman told us they were out of jalapeño bread which my parents said is the best. Don't let them fool you! They make the bread daily, so that was annoying. I ordered Super Mario with crunch Dutch and it was delicious ! My parents shared the Rubi club and it did not disappoint. You can share a while for sure !

small sub shop w/ plenty of variety this shop was recommended to me & it did not disappoint! came after a short hike - it was fresh, hefty, and enough for seconds at home. each sub also comes w/ a free cookie :) I ordered their super mario on dutch crunch bread & their subs are huge! at the given price point, it makes sense but it can definitely pass off as two meals. the filling was generous and the veggies were fresh. the tomato pesto complimented the other toppings quite well and kept the sub from being dry. the dutch crunch is a solid pick and had a slight sweetness to it, would recommend!!

One word to describe the Super Mario sandwich is DELICIOUS! The service was great when entering we were greeted right away and helped with suggestions on what to get. A nice looking deli with seating in front of the deli or on the roof top as well.

Delicious! I ordered ahead and it was ready pretty quickly. I built my own sandwich and it was tasty! For starters, I completely underestimated the size of a whole sandwich. (See photo) With that being said, great price for the size. My sandwich was good. I wish it would have been a bit more filled with ingredients. They also forgot to add something to it. I got the dutch crunch and it was really good! Softer than other dutch crunch I've had, but that's not a deal breaker for me. I'm not sure if there is seating on site. There is metered street parking and I imagine the availability of spots will depare on the day/time you go. I'm sure I'll be back!

I had a wonderful experience with the sandwich at this place. The fresh ingredients made it truly delicious, and the flavor of the pesto goat cheese was particularly enjoyable. The employees preparing the sandwich were incredibly friendly and attentive. While I found the Dijon mustard a bit sharp for my taste, the overall quality was impressive. The price is a bit on the higher side, with half a sandwich costing $11, but it's definitely a great spot for a fresh and tasty sandwich.

Food was amazing! I was so hungry I forgot to take a pic! I got the Hog's Breath sandwich and it was delightful! I asked for Jalapeño ranch and the cashier got it for me so quick! Nice tables in the back to enjoy your lunch. I love a good speciality soda as that is not available everywhere!

Like most things in life, there is a spectrum upon which sandwiches are routinely rated. While some happily accept their role as merely "convenience" sandwiches, others have aspired to earn the label of "destination" sandwiches. They're good enough to motivate you to drive a distance just to acquire them. In my estimation, Rubicon Deli has consistently created sandwiches that I literally miss when it's been too long since I've enjoyed one. To this day I continue my assertion that "I'm not a bread guy." However, whenever I have the good fortune of visiting Rubicon I am DEFINITELY a bread guy (my fave is the Garlic Cheese Bread)! At lesser establishments your bread selection may only be an afterthought unworthy of much consideration, but not here. Take the time to make a careful selection (even if it means holding up the line an extra minute) and just softly mutter "sorry, not sorry" to anyone mad dogging you from behind. Those rookies will understand the importance of this decision once they take the first bite of their sandwich. When they do, and then apologetically glance your direction, just wink like a veteran and they'll understand that you have extended the sceptre of grace to them. Our other ordering recommendations also include: a "half" sandwich is plenty large enough to satisfy most people, their sides are nearly as good as their sandwiches (the Bacon Potato Salad is my personal fave), and each sandwich order includes a soft and gooey chocolate chip cookie. This is one of our favorite places to eat on the way home after landing at San Diego International Airport, but you'll need to exercise a little patience when searching for parking because those opportunities are limited. I can believe it took me so long to find this spot! Best sandwiches in mission hills/ old town! Sandwiches are pricey, but huge! I couldn't even finish the second half. (Price ~17 for a whole and 12 for a half) What we got: - the hot mess- I got this in Dutch bread which was amazing. The sandwhich wasn't as spicy as I would have liked but overall hit the spot! - super Mario - classic Italian. We got it on pesto bread which, for you Italian lovers, is a must do! This will be my regular sandwhich spot when I feel like treating myself! Enjoy eaters!!
